Talon Hubs - How Good? 1998 250WR approx 3000 km 1999 410TE 2 bikes 1500 km, 2500 km 2000 360WR 2 bikes 2500km, 4500 km Full Vic Enduro and a cross country series. 2001 Jaydee 280 Full Vic Enduro series 8000km Cross Country and Sprint Series. 2002-04 Various shop demos. 2002-04 Grafted into JM 2504T. Have used 4 DID ‘X’ ring chains on that bike! During this time I have replaced 3 broken spokes. Maybe 3 sets front wheel bearings and about 5 sets of rear wheel bearings. The hubs are s till perfect. The spokes are perfect. The excel rims have a few dents. Before I bought talon hub/excel rims and stainless spokes combination I have broken 2 KTM rear hubs and one Husky rear hub. At that stage I gave up on cast hubs and spent the $. Although expensive to buy in the first place the talon hubs have more than paid for themselves after 6 years and 6 bikes later! GO TALON. Wrecking (additions) Jaydee has a specialist European bike workshop. We have dismantled over 300 KTM’s and rebuilt 100’s of KTM engines. This specialist knowledge has given us the ability to create modifications and advise many alternate parts for improved wear on the KTM brand. By combining specialist engine rebuilding and KTM wrecking we have immense practical experience with KTM’s. Wear problems and common faults all become apparent. We at Jaydee motorcycles have developed alternatives to improve specific model problems by improving on the ori ginal KTM design. PDS Example Many problems can be eliminated completely by these changes. For example PDS shocks and swing arms are failing. This is due to the spring and valving combination causing excessive loads at the end of stroke into the swingarm over time. The result is a broken shock or swingarm. By revalving not only do you improve ride quality but shocker and swingarm reliability is improved. |
